UniProtKB description: Toxic component of a type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) system (PubMed:28559487). Acetylates all 3 Gly-tRNA(Gly) isoacceptors, no other tRNAs are acetylated, tRNA acetylation inhibits translation (PubMed:34936863). Specifically recognizes the discriminator bases U73 and the C2-G71 pair of the tRNA acceptor stem, as well as the charged aminoacyl moiety (PubMed:34936863). Expression in the absence of antitoxin is toxic in E.coli (PubMed:34936863). Upon induction of the toxin gene during lag phase, the lag phase is extended by several hours (PubMed:28559487, PubMed:34936863). Neutralized by cognate antitoxin TacA1 (PubMed:28559487). Also acetylates cognate antitoxin TacA1 (PubMed:28559487). TacT1 is active in the presence of cognate antitoxin TacA1; when TacA1 is acetylated (or has an acetylation mimicking 'Gln-51' modification) TacT has higher acetylation activity (Probable) (PubMed:28559487).
