Miniclip has acquired Subway Surfers developer SYBO for an undisclosed fee. The deal is due to complete in July 2022, shortly after Subway Surfers has celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Despite being almost a decade old, Subway Surfers currently has over 150 million monthly active users. The mobile endless runner was also the first game to pass 1 billion downloads on Google Play.
Combined, Miniclip and SYBO currently reach over 70 million daily active users, and SYBO chief exec Mathias Gredal Norvig claims Miniclip will bring “experience, reach, and strength” to the studio as it looks to deliver more growth.
Miniclip CEO, Saad Choudri, said that SYBO’s experience in building and maintaining “one of the world’s most popular games” makes the studio an ideal acquisition.
SYBO’s current management team will remain in place following the deal.
