Japanese video game giant Nintendo is laying out more concrete plans today about how its partnership with Universal will see the longstanding game maker entering the amusement park business.
This sheds light on what Nintendo was aiming for when it teamed up with Universal last year: Nintendo-themed areas in Universal Studios theme parks, starting with parks in Osaka, Los Angeles, and Orlando.
Each Nintendo-themed resort area will get its own unique attractions, but Nintendo says fans will be able to “enter a realm filled with iconic Nintendo excitement,” so expect Mario and company to make an appearence.
The new areas are being built with engagement firmly in mind, and will look to reel consumers in with attractions that are “expansive, immersive, and interactive.” In short, Nintendo is eager to transport its winning game design formula to the real world.
“The areas will be highly themed and authentic environments filled with multiple attractions, shops and restaurants,” reads a press release. “Guests will feel as if they are playing inside their favourite games — this time in real life.”
The specifics of each new area will be detailed in future announcements, the first of which is expected to drop soon.
